HoverLifeline
HoverAid is a Christian charity which aims to provide appropriate transport
solutions for situations in which awkward combinations of land and water
limit conventional vehicles. A number of expeditions over the years have
used hovercraft designed and constructed to meet these conditions in an
appropriate way, to encourage and to learn from remote peoples and to provide
medical and technical resources in an atmosphere of hope & love. These
'Adventures with a Purpose' have tested craft (and teams!) to their limits
... but now we have the challenge to assess whether we can deploy these
unique vehicles long-term in a sustainable community-aware way.
We were invited to Zambia to do just this, to turn a barrier into a
highway. Demonstrating the abilities and limitations of our research craft
on the Zambezi has taught us a lot, and getting to know those whose lives
are so bound up with the river's ebb and flow brings out the complexity
as well as the need. We need wisdom and understanding if we are to have
a helpful part to play.
These pages describe aspects of the Zambezi HoverLifeline Project in
Zambia.
