Relief aid so far.....
Up to now, 60 truckloads have been dispatched to the North, the East, and the South carrying Food Items, Clothing, Linen, Essential household items, kitchen utensils, medical supplies and other equipment. Also about 20 to 25 Relief workers and counsellors have been deployed fulltime in each of the 4 Base Camps.

Future Plans.....
People's Church is focused on doing long term relief work in the districts listed below chosen out of many affected districts.
Mullaitivu
Ampara
Galle
Kalutara
They have set up operational teams in each of these districts.  Each team will have a team leader and will comprise of a team of trained volunteers and care teams trained in post-trauma counseling.   Their major concern is the deficiency of resources to meet the huge need that now exists and the long-term requirements of medicine and housing that will emerge in the year ahead.  This link will tell you in detail what is being achieved in each district:  http://www.peopleschurchsl.org/basecamp_updates.htm#mul

We are all beginning to see that after the enormous flurry of post-tsunami relief efforts, organsations like People's Church are planning for effective longterm support of devasted communities.  As a UK charity with a Christian ethos and global outlook, HoverAid feels privileged to be associated with this church-based relief work within the Sri Lankan community.
